Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) is a gentle technique involving light stretching and compression of superficial fascia layers. Fascia is thin, layered, connective tissue that protects, surrounds, and holds every muscle, bone, organ, blood vessel, and nerve fiber in place. While healthy fascia is smooth and pliable, it can also become stuck or tight, often leading to chronic pain. "Stuck" fascia can be the result of physical or emotional trauma, but can be relieved with myofascial techniques.
Trigger Point Therapy
A trigger point is a tight, irritable knot within connective tissue or muscles that often causes travelling pain. They are caused by tight muscles, poor posture, muscle overuse/inactivity, or stress. Trigger point therapy involves direct, pinpointed, and controlled pressure on the area. Although at times uncomfortable, trigger point therapy is a common and effective technique for neck, shoulder, and back pain.
Muscle Energy Technique
Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) involve using a muscular force to stimulate contraction, inhibit tension, or improve its range of motion. The LMT may ask you to actively perform movements against your resistance to accomplish the expected outcome. This modality is commonly used for athletes to help prevent and guard against potential future injuries.
Pneumatic Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient practice used to released old toxins, metabolic waste, and stagnant energy from body tissue. Cupping is known to leave discolored, circular marks that reveal the degree of stagnation present in the tissue and will fade within 3 days to 3 weeks depending on their severity.
Tui NA & AcuPressure
Tui na massage and acupressure are traditional healing modalities that are pillars to East Asian medicine. Tui Na serves to regulate the flow of "qi", or vitality, within our body to promote balance. Acupressure involves the stimulation of pressure points along channel pathways to produce a physiological effect.
Flower Essence Oils
Cassia Bodywork offers the application of oils infused with flower or herbal essences. Also known as liniments, these infusions carry the medicinal properties of the involved herb, root, or flower, selected to support your unique wellness needs. This gentle therapy is known to support physical and psychoemotional conditions and assist you with adapting to the changes of everyday life.
HOT STONE THERAPY
Hot stone therapy is a relaxing modality that uses smooth, heated stones to promotes deep muscle relaxation and blood circulation. The warmth of the stones help melt away muscle tension, without the need of using excessive pressure. For your safety, practioners will regularly check in throughout the session to ensure the stones remain at a temperature within your comfort level.
GUA SHA THERAPY
Gua sha is a traditional healing technique from East Asian medicine that involves gently scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to stimulate circulation, release muscle tension, and promote the body's natural healing process. Gua sha performed on the body bring stagnant blood and metabolic waste to the skin's surface, often resulting in temporary discoloration called "sha" or petechiae. Over a few days, productive blood is circulated into the affected region, and the marks resolve.
